Controlling Water Quality through a Biofloc Technology (BFT) in Aquaculture Production Systems

چکیده
Information on dynamics of water quality is essential in fish rearing. The use biofloc technology (BFT) improves production regions with low availability. This study was carried out to evaluate the locally available carbon sources control total ammonia nitrogen and other parameters aquaculture system. Completely randomized design three different (wheat flour, rice bran molasses) four treatments [wheat flour (WF), (RB), molasses (MOL) mix 1:1 ratio (MIX)]. Each had replicates. Control tanks were maintained excluding additional sources. Carbon Nitrogen 10:1.The experiment 80 L, fiber glass (15) indoor conditions for 60 days. A number 30 male guppy (Poecilia reticulate) individuals stocked each tank (mean weight 0.1481±0.0500 g standard length 1.8±0.2 cm). Water parameters; pH, dissolved oxygen (DO) temperature measured daily basis. Total ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrate weekly (1.1746±0.1709 mg/L) significantly higher than (p<0.05). (0.0897±0.0374) wheat treatment (0.0939±0.0152) showed a values BFT Nitrate (1.1871±0.1331) (0.3779±0.1044) high DO, pH variation similar among groups (p>0.05). Biofloc Technology (BFT): A Tool for Water Quality Management in Aquaculture
Biofloc technology (BFT) is considered the new “blue revolution” in aquaculture. Such technique is based on in situ microorganism production which plays three major roles: (i) maintenance of water quality, by the uptake of nitrogen compounds generating in situ microbial protein; (ii) nutrition, increasing culture feasibility by reducing feed conversion ratio (FCR) and a decrease of feed costs; ...
متن کاملBiofloc Production Systems for Aquaculture
Biofloc systems were developed to improve environmental control over production. In places where water is scarce or land is expensive, more intensive forms of aquaculture must be practiced for cost-effective production. There are strong economic incentives for an aquaculture business to be more efficient with production inputs, especially the most costly (feed) and most limiting (water or land)...

Biofloc technology (BFT) is a relatively new biotechnological means to support high density culture, maintain water quality, biosecurity, reduce the need for water exchange, reutilize the feed and reduce the production cost. This technology is mainly based on the principle of waste nutrients recycling (particularly nitrogen) into microbial biomass that can be used in situ by the cultured animal...
